Innovative Healthcare in the Era of Value
Innovation, value, disruptive technology and healthcare have become linked like peanut butter and jelly over the past few years. Every article I have read over the past year has shown the transition to this new conversation building steam and becoming the norm, not the exception. I’d like to thank Steve Huddleston for his article found here, as I thought this was a concise and thoughtful presentation on how healthcare is shifting and how hospitals need to begin planning for change.
“Never has the call for strategic collaboration been stronger in healthcare… success hinges not only on their ability to start or change initiatives, but to target operational and clinical support that can be turned on and scaled up quickly.”
This is one of the main reasons for hospitals to begin outsourcing many of their day-to-day functions, speed to market for hospitals is much like for technology companies at this point. Calling in the experts to build and scale quickly means you can bring a new product or service to the market faster, gaining a competitive advantage, maybe for a month or sometimes two, but maybe that’s all you need to gain the mindshare of the patient. Many of our customers have thought of doing what Cohealo does, only to find that they lack the focus to build and scale the operation quickly or that they don’t have the long term buy that will sustain the initiative past the excitement period of launch. That’s what partners are for, we can build, scale and sustain while our customer moves attention onto other initiatives that present opportunities to save or generate money.
“Today’s progressive approach recognizes the supply chain should serve as business consultants and data analysts for physicians in a similar way they do for hospitals. This evolving role as a conduit between operational and clinical teams sparks innovations in the decision-making process, resulting in operational improvements that streamline workflows and reduce waste, automate processes and contain costs…”
My favorite line in talking with potential customers is that Cohealo is your Fed Ex for devices/instruments today and your consultant tomorrow. Why? Because as we work within your facilities we become knowledgeable of all opportunities that don’t typically bubble up to the top through the existing process or structure. We can shine a light on inefficiencies and identify new revenue or cost saving opportunities due to the synergy created through our discussions with all parties. Aligning supply chain, materials management, hospital clinical needs, physician clinical needs and existing infrastructure and capabilities is what we deliver – not just a device on Wednesday for a 2pm case. Logistics support and mobilizing the hardware is part of the process, but the information collected, the analysis performed and the alignment of all parties is the real victory for our customers.
As always, thanks for your time and your feedback. I look forward to talking with you soon if you should have any questions or comments. Till next time…
